GOOGLE CLASSROOM

GOOGLE CLASSROOM is the learning platform used for the Spanish program @ WCMS.  Here, students will submit classwork/homework assignments, view notes/charts, and follow links to relevant websites/applications that are required or suggested for their course.

After submitting assignments students will receive feedback/response in a timely manner.  Parents can also closely monitor their child's grades, progress, and growth throughout the course.

LATE ASSIGNMENT POLICY

*If students are absent they are required to make-up missing assignments, etc. within a one week period without any deductions. Thereafter, points will be deducted daily for late assignments, etc. Incomplete work will receive partial credit.Individuals with a personal learning plans will be given extensions and/or accommodations accordingly.  The teacher will provide students with changes in due date assignments verbally and in GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

HOMEWORK POLICY

Students daily homework assignment is to review the study guides for new material , which they are provided with each week. Students should study the guides/outlines for about 20-30 minutes everyday. On occasion, students will be given assignments that they may have to complete and return to school the following day.

STRATEGIES

*STUDY & PRACTICE EVERYDAY.

Study & practice Spanish for at least 30 minutes a day.  You can use your class notes/handouts, books, websites/applications, online games, etc. to get more practice.

*REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION!

It's the key to language development, so always read it and repeat it. You can do this  when studying notes, reading assigned books/novels in the audio visual reading applications & when practicing or playing games on Spanish learning websites.

*SPANISH SUBTITLES ARE A PLUS!

First grab a notebook, then start your family NETFLIX, PRIME VIDEO, etc. movie with Spanish subtitles (with your parents permission, of course).  It's the game of, "How many Spanish words do you understand?" You can set a goal of 10 at first, then more next time. Record the Spanish words that you understand and write the English meaning and/or draw a picture that represents the Spanish word(s).

*KEEP A WRITTEN & VISUAL LOG NEARBY.

This is a good idea as you complete assignments, practices on website links/applications for your course.  Write 2-3 new vocabulary words and draw a picture (cartoon, stick person, etc.) to represent the word.
